Samford Reality Check
Imagine Samford Valley as picturesque rolling hills with green pastures and sounds of birds and full of life. Flowing, crystal clear water, grazing horses and cows, children playing in parks, people riding horses, cyclists, all breathing the clear winters air. This is why we choose to live here in Samford is it not?
Now for the reality check! Yes the mountains are beautiful but unfortunately the water is not always crystal clear and the air is not always as clear as it seems. Many roadsides are not a picture of life but a sad picture of death, killed off from a huge amount of exposure to pesticides, in fact one spraying contractor informed us about the amount he can use in one single day, 800litres of glyphosate alone soaking into our precious earth, I wonder how many contactors there are working every day in our area. Are we thinking ahead and considering our next generation of children? Are we doing the right thing by them or are we too short sighted in our thinking? Is the use of pesticides now worth unbalancing nature’s rhythms far into the future? How much work will our children need to do in order to rebalance the earth from the damage we are causing right now?
New alarming evidence becomes available all the time and we encourage you to read information on our website and understand that residual chemicals may harm the earth, people and animals. Most people believe it is safe and ok to spray pesticide chemicals and that it is biodegradable and does not cause harm. A slight breeze of wind can cause pesticides to spray drift so please we ask that you consider your family, neighbours and animals next time you choose to spray.
